Ideas for Throwing a Fun Summer Party

Throwing a party in the summer is always a great deal of fun. You can enjoy the beautiful weather in the company of your family and friends. Whether you grill your own food, or, or ask your guests to each bring their own favorite food, putting together a fantastic summer party can be a breeze. Here are some tips to dial up the fun and turn down the stress of planning the party.

The Menu

Be sure to pick food that you like, and keep in mind your seating situation. For example, if your goal is for guests to get a plate of food from a buffet table and sit down, it's a good idea to stay away from food that requires two hands at once and might drip.

Another consideration is you actually serve the food. A sunroom, for instance, enables you to serve food inside, giving you access to electrical outlets in case you are using crockpots. It will also protect your food from any pesky visitors, while still being easily accessible from the outside.

For many of your guests, the food will be the most important part of your outdoor summer party. From hamburgers and hotdogs to macaroni and cheese, picking the right menu and knowing where to place the food ensures that your party will be a fun and delicious time.

The Location

Naturally, great weather means that having your party outside is a great idea. On your deck or in your backyard, you have more space to entertain, while allowing you and your guests to enjoy the beautiful weather.

At the same time, it's always a good idea to have an alternative location in case of a swift change of weather. So when you are decorating and setting up your seating and tables, consider setting up some inside seating in your sunroom in addition to your outdoor tables and chairs.

Even if the weather stays steady, these alternative locations can be beneficial. Especially if you don't have shade in your yard, any older guests may need to take a break from the sun in an area that's more protected, but still part of the action, consider a dappled shade area such as a pergola.

The Entertainment

Naturally, you want your guests to be entertained, and a natural way of doing that is to play music. Today, playing music outside is as simple as bluetooth speakers. Or, if you're looking for something different and fun, why not incorporate a screen and show your favorite movie? Board games, or other games, are always a great idea too.

No matter who you invite entertainment adds life to your party. If you are planning on having your party run into the night, you can always move into your sunroom after the sun goes down for a movie, or simply to enjoy watching the fireflies dance. That way, you don't have to worry about pesky mosquitoes biting your guests.

When it comes to throwing a summer party summer, you can be as fancy or as simple as you want. Whether you set up a campfire and s'mores or a buffet with all sorts of food, fun should be at the center of your planning efforts. In that case, a sunroom opens up a wide range of possibilities, along with some flexibility and independence from the weather.
